At Mullins Dental, we are committed to being here for you when you need us most. Our team is equipped to handle a wide range of dental emergencies with skill and compassion.
COMMON DENTAL EMERGENCIES WE TREAT

SEVERE TOOTHACHE
A severe, persistent toothache is a sign of a serious issue, like an infection, that can worsen without treatment.

Our Recommendation
Rinse with warm salt water and use a cold compress for temporary relief. Do not place aspirin on the tooth or gums, and call our office immediately for an appointment.

CRACKED, OR BROKEN TOOTH
A cracked or broken tooth requires immediate attention to prevent infection or further damage, even if it doesn't hurt.
Our Recommendation
Rinse your mouth with warm water and apply a cold compress to the area. If you have the broken piece of the tooth, save it and call us as soon as possible.

LOST FILLING OR CROWN
Losing a filling or crown leaves your underlying tooth exposed and vulnerable to sensitivity and damage.
Our Recommendation
Keep the crown in a safe place and avoid chewing on the tooth. Call our office promptly for an appointment to have it repaired.

KNOCKED-OUT PERMANENT TOOTH
A knocked-out tooth is a time-sensitive emergency where acting quickly provides the best chance to save the tooth.
Our Recommendation
Call us immediately for guidance. Handle the tooth only by its crown (top), rinse it gently, and try to place it back in its socket. If you cannot, transport it in milk and come to our office right away.

DENTAL ABSCESS
A dental abscess is a serious infection at the tooth's root that can affect your overall health and will not go away on its own.
Our Recommendation
Call us immediately for treatment. You can rinse with salt water for temporary relief, but do not attempt to drain the abscess. If swelling affects your breathing, go to the hospital emergency room.

Follow First-Aid Instructions
For pain, you can take over-the-counter pain relievers, but avoid placing aspirin directly on the tooth or gums. For swelling, a cold compress applied to the outside of the cheek can provide relief.
For Life-Threatening Emergencies
If you have experienced severe facial trauma, uncontrolled bleeding, or swelling that is obstructing your airway, please go to the nearest hospital emergency room immediately.
